Competency 5: Engage in Professional Development
Sub-competency
Demonstrates the disposition for life-long learning and continuous professional development
Narrative
Demonstrates the disposition for life-long learning and continuous professional development
To demonstrate this competency, I am including my Reflection on Developing Expertise created for EDCI 672. In this paper, I discuss my development throughout EDCI 672 and the learning I experienced as I examined each of the case studies. I begin the paper by relating material from my first Master's program in Outdoor Education to some of the learning theory covered in EDCI 531. Later in the paper, I discuss plans for applying the learning theory and ID principles I've gained from this program to a project at work to redesign the curriculum we offer to our retirement plan members. This project has finally received approval from our CEO. I've been working toward this since I began the Instructional Design and Technology program at Purdue, and I'm very excited to be applying my new knowledge in my work.
In addition, I am including a copy of my Introductory Biography for EDCI 572 which, I believe, demonstrates my life-long passion for teaching and learning. The final paragraph is responding to the following:
Post a picture of yourself doing something that was either:
Fun
Exciting
Ridiculous
Life-Changing
Or...."Other"---Make Your Own Label.
Whether in my personal or professional life, learning is extremely important to me and I find myself doing ridiculous and life-changing things like becoming a certified Pilates teacher or learning Norwegian or earning a second Masters degree in Instructional Design Technology.
